# Art Museum Roman

The museum's origins lie in the portrait of Stephen the Great painted in 1884 by Epaminonda Bucevschi for Bishop Melchisedec Ștefănescu.

The museum's origins lie in the portrait of Stephen the Great painted in 1884 by Epaminonda Bucevschi for Bishop Melchisedec Ștefănescu. Since 1970 it has occupied the Roiu House, a late-19th-century Neoclassical listed building. Its collections include over 1,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures and decorative art works, partly shown in six rooms (243 m²). The exhibition features artists connected with Roman and the Ciurdea-Steurer family and architect Marcel Locar donations.
